Pakistani Batsman: Ahmad Shehzad

Ahmed Shehzad better known as selfie king or Shehzada (Prince) is a 23-year-old, Pakistani cricketer, born on the 23rd of November 1991. Ahmed is a right-handed outset batsman and periodically a leg-break bowler. Ahmed is generally known for his truculent batting and bellicose inclination. Habib Bank limited was the platform that initiated his career in domestic cricket. In April 2009, he played against Australia in the one day internationals, and was officially acknowledged as a Pakistani cricketer in the international cricket world.

Prior Life

Ahmed was born in Lahore in 1991. His father passed away when he was only eight months of age. At an early age of five, Ahmed was already frenzied about cricket while he played for the cricket team at his school. His keen interest in cricket was recognized by his sports teacher, who advised him to pursue a career in the field of cricket. The under-nineteen team of Pakistan had chosen him as a player; which later led him to join the national cricket team of Pakistan. He made his international debut as an opening batsman against Australia at a ODI match, in the year 2009.

Career: National and International

 

  • NationalAhmed was a part of the domestic team known as, ‘The Lahore Lions’. Ahmed earned the title of ‘the highest run-scorer’ on the mentioned team. At the ‘Faisal bank T-20 super eights tournament’ in June 2011, Ahmed scored 74 runs of 47 balls which contributed to the total score of 218 against the opposing team, The Sialkot Stallions. The Sialkot Stallions lost the match with a score of 173 runs in total. Ahmed also caught two balls and took one wicket and so was awarded, ‘The Man of the Match’ title and trophy.

 

  • International

    Ahmed Shehzad is recognized as a well established Pakistani batsman. He is unsurprisingly a persistent batsman summoned from Lahore, Pakistan. In 2007, he made an impressive debut internationally. National team of Pakistan was mobilized after the innings were played aggressively. Ahmed was influential in Pakistan youth’s conquest which was against England where Pakistan chased down the score of 342 runs.Ahmed, who is a right-handed batsman, was just seven when he participated in the game, has now over many years been a productive scorer for Pakistan. He was mainly influential at early age in Pakistan’s “Under-19s” and youth test games. Ahmed also made his first appearance for Habib Bank Limited at the age of sixteen and since then his enormous talent was recognized by many with a fine number of runs (167) he accomplished. In a youth test, he assisted Pakistani team, “Under-19s” to chase down 342 runs set by the team of England. Further proof of his talent was recognized in later games held back in the country, Pakistan. He assisted Pakistani team in a youth ODI series which was a domestic game to accomplish 315 runs in a 5-0 against Australia in “Under-19s”. He also scored a rapid 92 just by 49 balls for Lahore Eagles. Ahmed being passionate about cricket made to Pakistan’s test squad against Sri Lanka for home series in 2009 by accomplishing Under 19 campaign in the year 2008.
