Nawa-i-waqt is an Urdu Language Daily which is very popular in Pakistan. It was founded by Hameed Nizami back in 1940. The paper has a high circulation with the masses as thousands of its copies are sold on a daily basis.

One reason for its popularity is the fact that it has been in publication for more than 75 years now. Therefore, it has gathered a lot of following for its paper in more than seven decades of its operation. The paper proudly prints “More than 75 years of publication” on every copy that is printed.

Nawa-i-waqt is printed is printed simultaneously from Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Multan.
Nawa-i-waqt has a total of 16 pages and charges its buyers PKR 12/- for its purchase. The paper is divided into different sections to cover contrasting events and happenings.
There is a sequential categorization of the kind of news items which the different pages of the Daily are supposed to carry.

  • Pages 1~5 of Nawa-i-waqt carry news relating to the current affairs in Pakistan.
  • Pages 6~8 carry news local to the city from which the Daily is published as well as its adjoining areas. In addition, these pages have publications for jobs as well.
  • Pages 9~10 have the remaining stories for news items printed on the front page, commonly known as “baqqiyah”. Since the front page is the most important page, therefore, all the hot news is intended to make a presence there. For want of space however, only a segment of news is printed on the first page while the remaining is narrated on page 9 and 10.
  • Page 11~12 have news related to Sports, advertisements and some more news items.

There are a huge number of adverts that show in Daily Nawa-i-Waqt, especially on the back page. That page is practically littered with advertisements of every sort. These advertisements mainly relate to small companies, with a mini sized image that “tells all”.

Nawa-i-waqt also publishes its epaper that is accessible over its website www.nawaiwaqt.com. The e-paper is intended for people living outside of Pakistan to be able to read the Daily without any kind of hassle whatsoever.
This practice is also the need of the day as all the major newspapers of Pakistan have an e-paper that is available for free over their website for international readers.
